Stella Blankenship
Stella Blankenship, 91, of Hardy, KY passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at the Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, KY.
Born February 22, 1929 at Hardy, KY, she was the daughter of the late Canie B. and Virgie Starr Thomas.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Ray Blankenship, three brothers, Earl Thomas,
Johnny Warden, and Leo Thomas, three sisters, Elizabeth LePage, Gladys Fleming, and Thelma Scott, and a sister-in-law Sue
(the late Judge Robert J.) Staker.
Stella was a retired long time educator. She started her teaching career at the age of 18 at the old Road Fork School,
now known as Forest Hills. She obtained her Bachelor's degree from Pikeville College and retired from the Pike County and
Mingo County school systems. She attended the Methodist Church.
Survivors include her son, Rick Blankenship of Hardy, KY, nieces, Becky Scott (Jim) Mullins of Hardy, KY and their daughter,
Sarah Mullins, of Mt. Washington, KY, Linda LePage (Robert) Lewis of Davie, FL, and their children, Diane and Greg, Sharon
Warden Harwood of Salem, VA, nephews, Steve (Denise) LePage of Hudson, FL and their daughter, Robin Mendelsohn, Seth Staker,
and Paul Michael Thomas of Hardy, KY, a great nephew, Bobby Phillips, and great-niece, Lora Phillips Thompson, special friends,
Jonathan, Michelle, and Atlanta Meece, and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 13, 2020 at 12:00 pm at the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, KY with Father
Nick England officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. View Memory Gardens at Huddy, KY with family and friends serving
as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of service Friday at the funeral home.

Stirl Hager
Stirl Hager, 77, of Ransom, KY passed away Friday, March 6, 2020 at the Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, KY. Born September
9, 1942 in Pike County, KY, he was the son of the late Dewey and Vicy Whitt Hager.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers, Bill, Charlie, and Willie Hager, and a sister,
Norma Jean Dotson.
Stirl was a retired coal miner with 38 years of service. He was a member of the UMWA and he was of the Baptist faith.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Kim (Barry) May of Winslow, IN, a sister, Glenna Mae Dotson of
Ransom, KY, his grandchildren, Tabitha (Nathan) Mitchell, Kassie (Trey) Spaulding, and Harley May, his great-grandchildren,
Liam Mitchell, Oakley Mitchell, Trinity Mitchell, Rhett Spaulding, and Cyrus Spaulding. Also surviving his a host of other
family and friends.
Graveside services will be held Sunday, March 8, 2020 at 2:00 pm at the Jake Hatfield Cemetery at Ransom, KY with Bro.
Mike Smith officiating and burial to follow with Barry

Rose Copley, 56, of Duncan Fork; Delbarton, WV passed away suddenly Monday, March 2, 2020 at her other home in Martha, KY.
Born August 13, 1963 in Williamson, WV, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Gertrude Crawford Williams.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Tim Pilkin and Franky Pilkin, and 1 sister,
Janis Clevenger.
Rose was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband Orville "Buck" Copley of Duncan Fork, 2 daughters, Amanda (Jimmy) Bryant of Mud
Fork, WV and Brandy (Aaron) Springer of Duncan Fork, 2 brothers, Lloyd (Penny) Williams of Elkhorn City, KY and Paul (Ann)
Pilkin of Sprigg, WV, 1 sister, Anita (Stan) Asher of North Matewan, WV, 3 grandchildren, Steven Calvin Messer, Buck Roberts,
and Erica Springer. Also surviving is a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 6, 2020 at 12:00 pm at the Duncan Fork United Baptist Church with Bro. David
Stratton officiating. Burial will follow in the Ooten Cemetery at Duncan Fork with Steven Messer, Kevin McCoy, John Pilkin,
Daniel Asher, Buck Roberts, and Jimmy Bryant serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 6-10 pm Thursday evening at the Duncan Fork United Baptist Church with services at 7:00 pm with
Elder Eddie Layne officiating.

Wanda Curry, 79, of Turkey Creek, KY passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at her home. Born July 3, 1940 at Lobato, WV,
she was the daughter of the late Willie and Eva Porter Marcum.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Brittany Christine Sanders, her beloved
baby brother, Edward Charles Marcum, brothers, Willie Marcum Jr., Dickie Marcum, Lonnie Marcum, Tony Marcum, and Jackie Marcum,
and a sister, Lillian Messer.
Wanda was a dedicated homemaker. In addition to being a wonderful mother to her children, she was a mother to all the
neighborhood children. She was of the Freewill Baptist
faith.
Survivors include her children, Linda (Michael) Maynard of Williamson, WV, Debbie (Steve) Picklesimer of Sebring, FL,
Sandy (Roger) Mullins of Pikeville, KY, Trena (Sidy) Mounts of Tornado, WV, Christina (Anthony) Pattison of Cape Coral, FL,
and a host of former neighborhood children, her brothers and sisters, Ernie Marcum of Logan, WV, Billy Marcum of Cleveland,
TN, Dollie Belcher of Phelps, KY, Marie Walden of Smithville, TN, Juanita Norwood of Chattanooga, TN, Lorraine Marcum, Rex
Marcum, Avery Marcum, Dewey Marcum, Chris Marcum, Effie Cochran, and Victoria Faison all of Williamson, WV, 9 grandchildren,
13 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Linda Lou Owens, known to many as Granny, 76, of Sidney, KY passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at the Pikeville Medical
Center. Born February 2, 1944 in Pike County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Dorothy Smith Clevenger.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Henry Owens, a daughter, Brenda Sue Smith Westfall,
a granddaughter, Medeana Rashlle Hendershot, 3 brothers, Jackie, Leon, and Russell Clevenger, and an infant sister.
Linda was a homemaker and of the Freewill Baptist faith. In addition to the love of her family, she was well known for
her azaela and snowball bushes. Linda loved being outside working in her flowers and her garden and she loved playing with
her grandchildren.
Survivors include 2 sons, Mark (Brittany) Owens of Pikeville, KY and Matthew (Kara) Owens of Stone, KY, 3 daughters, Bridget
(Pickle) Ball of Belfry, KY, Cindy Smith and Courtney (Josh) Maynard both of Sidney, KY, 2 sisters, Sharon Thompson of Hillsboro,
KY and Geraldine Justice of Raccoon, KY, her grand-children, John Bradley Jones, Tiffany Cantrell, Brittany Hurley, Kevin
Alexander Ball, Tiffani Hawks, Canaan Owens, and Echo Rayella Thomas, 3 step-grand-children, Gage, Tytan, and Hartley, her
great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Lucas Maynard, Carrigan and Macie Ernest, Brady and Mason Ball, Samuel Hawks, John Bradley
Jones and Alexis Jade Jones. Also surviving is a host of other family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 pm Thursday evening at the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, KY with cremation
to follow the visitation to honor Linda's wishes.

Franklin Elliot "Eli" Hatfield

Franklin Elliot "Eli" Hatfield, 31, of Charmco, WV took his final climb heading for Heaven and tied in at the top
on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at CAMC Memorial in Charleston, WV. Born November 1, 1988 in Logan, WV, he was the son of Marsha
Hatfield and Marcus (Momma Donna) Chapman.
He was preceded in death by William Ray Hatfield, his maternal grandfather Earl Hatfield, and his paternal grandparents
John Chapman and Agnes Casey.
Eli was a tree brother, employed by Asplundh Tree Expert Company as a Class A Tree Trimmer, a profession he was dedicated
to and took pride in. A man with a heart of gold, he never hesistated to take anyone in under his wing or help in any way
he could. He enjoyed fishing, playing pool, and spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, those left to honor his memory are his three reasons for living, his motivation, and his pride
and joy, that he thanked God for everyday, his two sons, Xander Cain Hatfield and Maddox Kaide Hatfield, his fiancee and mother
of his sons, Cassie Osborne, two sisters, Kimberly (Wayne) Bowens and Jasmine Hatfield, his maternal grandmother, May Bell
Lester, his uncles, Skipper (Lea) Hatfield and Johnny (Eloise) Hatfield, his aunts, Merella (Greg) Fields, Jenell (James)
Bryant, and Carmen Hammond, his four legged companion, Shasta, his brothers at Asplundh Region 040, and a host of other family
and friends.
A thank you to the doctors and staff at CAMC Memorial and a special thank you to the nurses and staff of the CPICU at
CAMC.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 28, 2020 at 12:30 pm at the Newtown Free Pentecostal Church of God at Newtown,
WV with Pastor Randy Casey officiating. Burial will follow in the Ellison Hatfield Cemetery at Newtown, WV with family and
friends serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be after 5:00 pm Wednesday for family and after 5:00 pm Thursday for family and friends at the Newtown
Free Pentecostal Church with services at 7:00 pm at Thursday evening.

Gregory Allen Igo, 63, of Ransom, KY passed away Saturday, February 22, 2020 at the Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville,
KY. Born March 9, 1956 in Williamson, WV, he was the son of the late James Franklin and Joyce Smith Igo.
Greg was a disabled truck driver and a member of the Victory in Jesus Church at Sidney, KY.
Survivors include two brothers, Timothy F. (Wilma) Igo of Catawba, NC and James Keith (Patricia) Igo of Ransom, KY, one
sister, Sabrina (Michael) Daniels of Ransom, KY, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and friends.
In honoring Greg's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 29, 2020 at
1:00 pm at the Victory in Jesus Church at Sidney, KY
with Pastor Mike Smith officiating.
The family will begin receiving friends at 12:00 pm Saturday at the church.

Daulton Lane Mahon, 16, of Ransom, KY passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at his home from injuries sustained in an accident.
Born August 6, 2003 in Williamson, WV, he was the son of Darick and Kendra Chapman Mahon of Ransom, KY.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Edith Curry Mahon.
Daulton was a sophomore at Belfry High School and a junior firefighter with the Blackberry Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his siblings, Heath (Lori) Mahon of Nashville, TN, Chris Chapman of Ransom,
KY, Meagan (Brent) Griffith of Charlotte, NC, Carrigan Spence of Ransom, KY, and Garrett Spence of Ransom, KY, his paternal
grandfather, Homer Mahon of Delbarton, WV, his maternal grandparents, Kenneth Chapman of Ransom, KY and Connie (Charles) Deskins
of Banner, KY, uncle, Kenneth (Angela) Chapman of Ransom, KY, aunts, Regina (Rev. Mitchell) Bias, Debrina (Michael) Williams,
and Medina Mahon all of Delbarton, WV, his nephew and niece, Nolan and Margot Mahon, and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at the Belfry High School Auditorium. Burial
will follow in the Smith Cemetery at Sidney, KY with Ben Adkins, Spencer Hensley, Cameron Hensley, and other family and friends
serving as active pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Blackberry Volunteer Fire Department and Williamson Fire Department.

Ernest McCoy, 94, of Aiken, SC formerly of Hardy, KY passed away Thursday, January 30, 2020 at the Palmetto Health Baptist
Hospital in Columbia, SC.
Ernest was born on June 20, 1925 in Ransom, KY. He was one of ten children born to the late Helix and Marinda Stanley
McCoy. He was an WWII Army veteran entering service on September 11, 1943 and was honorably discharged on February 7, 1946.
He was in the Dixie Division 31st; Company K, Regiment 167.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Marjorie Johnson McCoy, sisters, Bertha,
Hazel, Gracie, Maggie, and Ortha Mae, and a brother, Jack.
After his military service, he worked for a while in the coal mines and then became a truck driver. In 1966 he went to
work for Essex International Group, from which he retired in 1983. After retirement, he worked with his brother Clarence
McCoy building homes until he relocated to Aiken, SC to be near his son, Harold (Mike).
He is a member of the Belfry United Methodist Church. For his hobbies, he loved anything crafty, like building wooden
toys, building models, doing jigsaw puzzles, and word searches.
Survivors include a son, Harold (Mike) McCoy and his wife, Sandy of Aiken, SC, a daughter, Pat McCoy Waters of Ft. Wayne,
IN, sisters, Virginia of Indialantic, FL and Elmo Allred of Maysville, KY, brother, Clarence McCoy of Hardy, KY, sister-in-law,
Sandra Johnson of Hardy, KY, 4 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews
as well as 2 step-grandchildren, 5 step-great-grandchildren, and 2 step-great-great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved very
much.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 6, 2020 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm followed by a service at 1:00 pm at the Hatfield
Funeral Chapel, 144 Toler Road, Belfry, KY.
Burial will immediately follow in the Mountain View Memory Gardens, 119 N Mountain View Lane, Huddy, KY.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of ICU, IICU, and PCU at Palmetto Health Baptist Hospital for their
kindness and care shown to Ernest and his family. Also, to Sharon Salley and her entire team at Palmetto Health HomeCare
(in house) Hospice for her assistance and compassion to the family.

Linda Sue Miles, 72, of Williamson, WV passed away Saturday, January 25, 2020 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Born May 2,
1947 in Cinderella, WV, she was the daughter of the late James Willard Noe and the late Blanche Stumbo Noe.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Miles, and two sisters, Julia Fraley
and Brenda Maynard.
Linda was a retired employee of the Mingo Manor Nursing Home which is now Trinity Healthcare of Mingo. She was of the
Protestant faith.
Survivors include her children, Irv (Mary) Miles of Hardy, KY, Victoria Lewis (Javier Hernandez) of Campobello, SC, Rachel
Miles (Joey Gibson) of Virginia Beach, VA, and Jamie (Wes) Hatfield of Hardy, KY, a sister, Patricia Gale (Ronald) Moore of
Detroit, MI, her grandchildren, Taylor Miles, Christopher Whitt, David Whitt, Kaitlyn Stanley, Timothy Dempsey, Julia Perry,
Charlie Dempsey, Gabe Roer, Phoenix Roer, and Logan Hatfield, her great-grandchildren, Aiden Stanley, James Stanley, Levi
Gannon, Liam Perry, Tyler Vanburen, Austin Boles, Peyton Dempsey, Jocelynn Dempsey, Dominic Dempsey, Chloe and Isabella Perry,
and Sebastian Swift.
Also surviving is a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at 11:30 A.M. at the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, KY with
Bro. Ed Lockard officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. View Memory Gardens at Maher, WV with family and friends serving

William (Bill) Gillespie

William (Bill) Gillespie of San Antonio, Texas also known as Bud or Buddy by many friends passed December 6, 2019 at the age
of 86. He was born at home near Aflex, Kentucky March 7, 1933 to Annis (Brown) and Charles David Gillespie.
He graduated from Belfry High School and soon after married his high school sweetheart Frances Ann Murphy then was drafted
into the Army the next month. After serving, he attended Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia under a football
scholarship where he was also introduced to the sport of wrestling. He later devoted many volunteer hours promoting High School
wrestling and is considered by many as "The Father of Wrestling" for San Antonio. Some of his honors were: induction
into the Belfry High School Athletic Hall of Fame, Texas Hall of Honor, and the National Wrestling Hall of Fame for his service
to the sport. In 1995 he was the South Texas Region Wrestling Coach of the Year.
Bill enjoyed entertaining and no group was too large. Once he fed over 100 cast members of "Up With People"
in less than an hour in his front yard. Bill also loved building things. After retiring from Phillips 66 Petroleum Company,
he devoted 15 months volunteering to help build a 6,000 square foot addition to his church. Retirement also granted him unlimited
fishing which he enjoyed. You could tell which boat was his on the lake because it looked like a scared porcupine with all
the fishing rods sticking out from the sides.
He was married 62 years to the late Frances Murphy. He is survived by his three children Sherry (Bruce) Fowler, Brent
Gillespie, and Connie O'Brian; grandchildren: Blake (Shelby) and Kyle Gillespie, Cassy and Leia O'Brian, Reid (Kristin) Fowler;
and great granddaughter Emma Fowler; brother Charles "Chuck" (Natalie) Gillespie, and preceded by his sister Elizabeth
"Sis" (Eugene "Yog") Marcum, and many relatives.
If Bill wanted you to remember one thing it is,"Attitude is Everything".
All services were held in San Antonio, Texas.

Amos (Buster) Davis Jr., 75 of Lenore, WV, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2020 at his residence. Born March 12, 1944 at
Naugatuck, WV, he was the son of the late Amos Davis Sr. and the late Helen Davis.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his oldest son, Timmy.
He attended the Mt. Hope Freewill Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish his memories include the love of his life and wife of 49 years, Brenda (Jarvis) Davis, his daughter,
Pam (Robert) Crabtree of Lenore, WV, and his son, Roger (Meranda) Davis of Breeden, WV.
Amos loved and was very close to his grandchildren, Brad Davis of Lenore, WV, Jeremy (Candita) Crabtree of Dingess, WV,
Ruby (Brad) Hatfield of Marrowbone, WV, Matthew Davis of Lenore, WV, and Levi and Parker Davis both of Breeden, WV. He also
leaves behind his brothers, Bill (Bonnie) Davis, Sam (Goldie) Davis, John (Barb) Davis, Walter (Barb) Davis, and Harold (Carlene)
Davis, his sisters, Ruth (Jess) Canterbury, Kaye Coleman, and Julie Henderson.
Also surviving are 9 great-grandchildren, a very special firend, Bill Sexton, and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, KY with
Bro. Jimmy Darrell Newsome officiating. Burial will follow in the Davis Cemetery at Den Branch; Naugatuck, WV with family
and friends serving as pallbearers.

Ruth West.
Janet was retired from G.C. Murphy's where she worked as a clerk and in the business office.
She attended the McAndrews Wesleyan Church.
Survivors include her siblings, Joseph Lloyd "Tarp" (Janice) Grossl of Canada, KY, Anna Freeman of Florida,
Clyde Grossl of Georgia, Jack Grossl of Alaska, Betty Thomas of South Williamson, KY, and Mary (Donnie) Gannon of Williamson,
WV. Also surviving is a host of niece, nephews, and friends.

Dustin Lee Blankenship, 41, returned to his heavenly home on December 31, 2019 after an extended bout with many illnesses.
He, a long-time resident of Beech Creek, WV and formerly of Logan, WV, died unexpectedly while enjoying one of his life's
many loves....spending time with family and eating at the Golden Corral.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dreama (Greg) Eplin, and father, Willard "Rocky" (Teresa) Blankenship.
Dustin is survived by his wife, best friend, and soul mate of 19 years, Carla Cisco Blankenship, his children, Jacob Blankenship
(15 y/o), and Joshua Blankenship (6 y/o), father-in-law, Carl D. Cisco, and brothers, James Deskins, Gregory Eplin, Brandon
Blankenship, and Shawn Willis and their families. Dustin is and will always be loved and remembered by a host of extended
family and friends. He will be memorialized by many, especially several special friends, Dewey Perry, Larry Collins, Michael
Tomblin, Tony McDonald, Scott Lake, Matthew Blankenship, Cameron Romero, and too many special effects artists to mention.
Dustin will be sadly missed by special family friend, Crystal (David) Lewis, and sons, Bryan, Nathaniel, and Dakota Blair.
Dustin was a devoted husband, father, and friend who enjoyed life to the fullest with numerous accomplishments which include,
but are not limited to, emergency medical technician (10+ years serving in the surrounding counties), disc jockeying, and
special effects artist (expanding over a decade). Of the aformentioned, his passion was definitely being a special effects
artist. Dustin was affilitated with Lyons Gate production where he received great recognition for his superb work in "The
Child of God" and "The Haunting of Four Points". Dustin also partook in many more local and national productions.
Dustin helped raise his two wonderful sons with dedication, discipline, and humility. His children will remember him
as a kind and loving father, who always encouraged them to pursue their goals.
Dustin will be remembered with great memories and fondness by those who crossed his path in this life. Dustin wanted
to leave peaceably with every one and he loved beyond measure. He will surely leave an impression on all who knew him.
A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, January 4, 2020 from 5pm-8pm at the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Belfry, KY.
Services are open to the public.
